CLASS INFORMATION

Classes begin on Monday September 12, 2016. Group Lessons are 45 minutes long and meet once a week at your designated time (on your “My Dance Schedule” Sheet in your yellow welcome packet).

RECITAL PERFORMANCE INFO

All Classes work towards one performance in our annual dance recital. The recital is held the weekend after Memorial Day – this year is Friday June 2 & Saturday June 3 at Niagara County Community College. Please note: This date is subject to change pending auditorium availability.

 

Tuesday-Thursday of that week, students will be assigned a dress rehearsal day and will need to arrive at Niagara Community College at their allotted time dressed and ready to run their dance on the big stage! This performance will require the purchase of a costume, tights and jewelry. Costume deposits of $25.00 per class are due by October 15, and bills with the remainder will be available for pick up by November 1.

 

At JCDA we understand that while you appreciate the dance community you are a part of, your superstar is YOUR CHILD! For this reason we give students additional free performance opportunities in our shows. We allow all students ages 5+ to participate in our Closing Number, and any dancer in the tot level and up can participate with their fathers in the Dad’s Dance! (Please note, we welcome all father figures. We definitely understand that sometimes, this means Mommies too!) Follow the newsletters for updated info regarding these two numbers. Our rehearsals usually occur in May, so be on the look out starting in March and April and pencil us in!

 

As we get closer to the show, more specific show times for the weekend will be released, as well as information regarding call times, and how many performances your child will be partaking in during the weekend (there are multiple shows for our families to enjoy a smooth recital weekend and have a wonderful experience).

 

To commemorate the year, we provide Photo and DVD services leading up to the show.

CANCELLATIONS OR EMERGENCY CLOSINGS

For cancellations due to weather emergencies, please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We post there first! We will also send out e-mails. If you do not have access to social media, we use the Emergency Closing system on channels 2 and 4.

If your student needs to miss class for any reason, notice to the studio and instructor is preferred via phone or e-mail. Please call us at 716-260-1787 so we can inform the teacher.

WE WILL NOT MAKE PHONE CALLS IF THERE IS A CLASS CANCELLATION. Please keep in the loop with these various forums. Thank you for your understanding!

 

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Competition Students: Allowed 3 Unexcused Absences, and 2 Class observations. This policy is in effect for all Competition Classes.

 

Recreational Students: Unlimited Unexcused and Excused absences. However, classes are paid in a monthly payment, so any classes missed will not be refunded. A make-up class may be attended by the dancer. Excessive absences may also affect how much responsibility the child will have in the class's recital dance at the end of the year. It is up to the dance teacher if the child has missed too much dance to perform. 

 

ATTIRE

Parents are responsible to provide their child with the clothing and footwear they will need to be successful. At the beginning of the year, students must have appropriate footwear. Please reference your yellow welcome packet for specific shoe, tight, and class attire information. Please check out any dance supply store to purchase what your child needs – we prefer HARBRIDGE DANCE SUPPLIES in Niagara Falls – she has just about anything you will need in stock and knows our classes well.

 

Online and in our lobby this fall, check out our seasonal apparel posters! We will have newly designed merchandise for you purchase for your dancer (and some for you too)! We also have some items in stock, as well as some samples.

We have monthly newsletters available for pick-up in the lobby at the beginning of each month. Please provide a reliable e-mail address, as we send frequent e-mails when we have upcoming events and deadlines!
